KISS (Keep It Simple Sewing) Coat and Jacket Workshop
July 22 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm$110
In this class, you will have the choice to make a Berlin Jacket or Brooklyn coat from the popular Tessuti patterns. The technique Sylvia use’s to make these will have no facings, interfacing or lining. Due to the construction method and unfinished hems, it is essential that only fabrics used are Wool Coating, Double Sided Wool, Felted Wool and Boiled Wools, fabric’s which don’t fray or have little fraying.
You will have the choice of either the the Berlin or Brooklyn jacket patterns which is included in the cost of the workshop.
- Berlin Jacket ~ This collarless, longline jacket features patch pockets, extended dropped shoulders and full length sleeves with a turned back cuff. The back neck is slightly raised.
- Brooklyn Jacket ~ This oversized, boxy coat features dropped shoulders and a fold over collar with front and back patch pockets. The full length sleeves are finished with a turned over cuff.
Both the Berlin Jacket and Brooklyn Coat are effortlessly stylish, and an ideal winter wardrobe staple, perfect for layering over dresses or any casual outfit.
When you book into the workshop, you will need to choose your Berlin Jacket or Brooklyn Coat pattern and you will receive the pattern to take home to draw up your pattern on Trace and Toile and cut your fabric out at home prior to the workshop. We have found that the most time consuming part in dressmaking is pattern drafting and cutting your fabric.
In order to start sewing ASAP on the workshop day, you will need to have your fabric cut out and ready to start sewing prior to the workshop.
We encourage you to talk to Sylvia prior to the workshop so she can guide you through fabric choices and other matters.
